Now that you have completed the webquest, you have a deeper understanding of your own political beliefs. Your opinions are important. By expressing your opinion on political issues, you are being an active citizen. Active citizens are powerful. If enough citizens express the same view, then the government listens. When this happens, poltical change occours. In this way, citizens like you can help to shape the country.

You might be too young to vote, but you are not too young to have political opinions. There are many ways to express your political opinions besides voting. For example, you can write your MP and tell him/her how you feel about a certain topic. If you want to really get a taste of will it is like to be an MP, you can take part in one of the Canadian Youth Parliament programs that are run across Canada. Casting a ballot in a federal election is very important because it allows you to participate in our government, but voting is not the only way to be an active citizen. Your vote might not count yet, but your voice definitely does. Let your opinions be heard.
